To promote equality and human rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, UN-Cinema presents “The Queen of Ireland”. The documentary by Conor Horgan tells the story of Ireland’s evolution into an equal society, as seen through the eyes of Rory O’Neill aka “Panti Bliss”, Ireland’s superstar drag queen who became the accidental face of the Yes campaign in the 2015 same sex marriage referendum. Rory O’Neill is a high-profile activist in the LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transsexual) community and known worldwide for his fight for equality and non-discrimination.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Rory O’Neill, moderated by James Creswick, UN Bonn staff and member of UN-GLOBE, the UN staff group that advocates for equal rights for LGBT+ within the UN system. The Irish Ambassador, Dr. Nicholas O’Brien and Arne Molfenter of the United Nations will open the event.
UN Cinema is free of charge, but registration is recommended to email@example.com
